Since yesterday, I’ve been continuing my thoughts on framing my latest work. Trying to source suitable pins is taking a long time. Taxidermy pins are fine enough to support the collages but the ones I’ve found so far are 40mm in length which is too long for the depth of frame I wish to use.
I’m also considering lace pins as well as simply using the 25mm household pins I used yesterday. Whatever I choose needs to be sympathetic to the work and not distracting in nature. The finer the pin, the better, and yet the pin needs to be strong enough to support the materials used in each collage. I still want the overall visual emphasis to be on the delicate and fragile nature of the work whilst conceptually highlighting duplication, transformation, and evolution.
