Harnessing the Destruction

I try to keep my own destructive urges under control through my art. Every collage I make consists of me destroying something beautiful. Every artwork is an attempt for me to understand that destruction and rebuild it into something beautiful again. This destructive/reconstructive cycle is ongoing and I can’t see me working in any other way.

When I stop creating art for a while the frustration is immense. Days when I cannot create or destroy are almost intolerable in my head. My creative outpourings are vital for me to make room in my head for the inner peace that I am always searching for. I’m not sure if I will ever find it, but if I can find some sort of compromise which brings beauty into the world then I have to keep trying.
