Descriptions and Diversions

I’m considering a piece of descriptive writing at the moment with a young friend. We’re sat in the summer sun working out the plot to a story about a plane crash. It sounds a bit harrowing but we’re actually focussing more on describing the scene before the disaster.

We’re sat lazily in the sun as our imaginary planes go over our heads, watching little ants scurrying up and down the sycamore tree being watched by two overly comfortable herring gulls.

Any second now we’ll have to end this idyllic scene to factor in our fictional plane crash…
