A Strange Landscape

It’s been a long weekend and only half a panel from Cadillac has been completed as a result. This is a difficult and strange landscape to manoeuvre around. The idea is that this landscape will be repeated many times before this assemblage is complete. I’m not sure if that’s the correct route to take right now but it’s the only route currently under consideration so it makes sense just to push on with this and see how far we can get.

I don’t mind all this fiddly cutting. It’s quite therapeutic to do and a nice change from the repetitive patterns from earlier assemblages. This will certainly take the rest of the month to complete and probably another week to consider whether this work is valid for the brief we set ourselves with the Structured Chaos series.

This is very much work in progress and is wholly experimental. Nothing is being drawn on the paper before I cut and there is a photograph on the reverse side which bears virtually no resemblance to the shapes you see here. The boundaries of art practice are being pushed, carved, and resculpted.
