I’ve been in the North of Swansea today in Clydach with a new class designed especially for Communities First. This is a four week course I’m running under the title I am Great. We start on the assumption that each participant is great. Naturally each person is skilled and talented and has abilities far beyond what they would normally imagine themselves having on a rainy Thursday morning. We imagine our location is new, exotic and somewhere a tourist would like to visit and then we progress forward from there.
A lot of the class have had no previous experience with photography so naturally I challenged them with all sorts of tasks which examined composition and philosophy as well as learning new camera skills. This might sound daunting but if you have no preconceptions about a new skill, and the tasks given are fun and interesting, then there is not a lot that can go wrong. Point and click and away we go.
The results are amazing for a first attempt. Already this class are flying along and really boosting their self-confidence. By week 4 who knows what brilliant photographs they will produce.
