Bringing Gower Home to Communities First

Working together and getting people out is a wonderful experience and just because one thing falls under one remit and another under something else doesn’t mean to say there can’t be a certain amount of overlap. I’ve been doing a lot of work lately for Communities First but I’m also still delivering workshops for my Bringing Gower Home project. So what happens when these two worlds collide?

Today was one of those experiences where everything and everyone just came together to enjoy the Gower and see how much fun we could have on a rainy January day at CHAPS in Gowerton.

The group today was from Communities First in Clydach and we spent much of our time surrounded by mud. Not everything out here is beautiful sunsets and beaches and it was great to spend time in the woods and down the stables getting to grips with mother nature.

The idea behind Bringing Gower Home is to get people out to Gower who wouldn’t normally have the opportunity. This lovely peninsula should be enjoyed by as many people as possible. Thanks to a minibus (and driver) on loan from WCADA, we helped get another group of fantastic townsfolk into the countryside to take these amazing photographs.

Every Bringing Gower Home photography workshop has a follow-up celebration event where participants can showcase their talents. The event for this group will be next month back at base in Communities First, Clydach.

I am organising, delivering, and supporting this project in collaboration with Gower Landscape Partnership (GLP) which is funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund, Natural Resources Wales, City and County of Swansea, and National Trust.
