Head On

I’m still working through the engineering for my latest artwork in my Automata series. I’m certain this artwork will involve multiple doll heads and since I made that decision I seem to be seeing them everywhere. I’m not sure what kind of person is leaving doll heads on the ground in my neighbourhood but nevertheless this is something which is happening with increasing frequency.

The engineering side of this artwork is all down to working through ideas on cogs, shafts, and gearing. These Automata are only little machines but they must work correctly to look the part. The design is crucial to make the overall effect appear simple and efficient even if the thought processes are long and complex in designing the machine.

I’ll be working on this again tomorrow and tackling the artistic side of this head on. Hopefully I’ll then have appeased the doll decapitation monster roaming my street.
