A Different Palette

After yesterday’s thoughts I’ve decided to try a finer detailed sketch and in a different colour. Finding colours that suit me are important because if I’m trying to work with something that jars in my head then that can be a source of friction. Some artists thrive on such mental friction but I’ve always needed a sense of peace and calm from the artworks I create.

Working in a finer pen takes far longer to sketch with. The process of my art is always time driven in that I want it to be drawn out and painstaking. If I am slow in my art creation then I can be more lost in the moment. I can relax more and be at peace with myself. It’s a kind of meditation for me.

I’ll be sharing more progress on my New Forms collection later this week. Tomorrow is the start of a new workshop in Townhill Swansea looking at building confidence with the camera. It will be fun!
