The Photograph as a Reference Tool

I often photograph my work and would do so even if I wasn’t writing this blog. Sometimes looking at something through a photograph can give a different visual perspective just as looking at a reflection of the work in a mirror can give a different viewpoint. In this little portion of H I’m seeing gaps and formations that I know need improvement. I’m seeing information that I couldn’t (or wouldn’t) see otherwise.

Using the photograph like this gives me an instant tutorial with myself. I can reflect directly on what progress is needed and how best to react to the work. I can muse on where my research needs to be headed and work on new and informed choices.

And I like the way H is headed.
